Canada’s only agricultural communication club for students receives support from new sponsor

(GUELPH, September 26, 2007) -- The Semex Alliance has come on board to support the future of agricultural communications by sponsoring the University of Guelph’s agricultural communication club , CanACT (Canadian Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow).

Semex’s backing will help CanACT members engage in a variety of educational opportunities ranging from guest speakers to field trips – all involving hands on learning. This year, industry professionals will address CanACT members during bi-weekly meetings on topics such as How to snap the perfect shot and Good times are here, who needs communication?! An etiquette dinner is being planned to enable members to network with industry professionals while gaining valuable skills on how to handle dinner table situations.

“Semex’s financial support gives CanACT a major boost,” says club president Amy Meekes. “It opens up new avenues for young agricultural communicators looking to develop a greater understanding and skills that will ultimately help the industry.”
