It's that time of year again...CanACT is going on another semester tour! The trip will take place on Thursday Oct. 19, leaving at 8:30am rom the UC loop and returning at approximately 8pm.
The first stop of the day is the Waterloo office of Quarry Integrated Communications, helping clients build business through a full range of communications and marketing services.
From there we will hit the road and head east to the Found Family Farm. Mary Ann Found combined her love of teaching with her love of agriculture to create the Learning Barn, an interactive agricultural education initiative. The farm opened for tours in May 2006, and has already had more than 1,700 visitors.
Upon leaving the Found Family Farm, we will be having dinner with guest speaker Mike Metcalf (OAC 99) - Regional Cuisine Development Officer for Durham Region. Mike will talk first hand about communicating agriculture to an urban public, his role in developing the first ever Savour Durham Tour - Gates Open 2006 and the necessity of organizations such as Durham Farm Fresh to raise awareness about fresh foods and supporting the local producer.
It should be a great day to learn more about agricultural communications, ag education programs, and opportunities available to you when you graduate.
Lunch will be served on the bus.
Please RSVP as soon as possible to Pat Dickenson
