On February 12th, CanACT had Bette Jean Crews, Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) president, and Colleen Smith, executive director of Ontario Agri-Food Education (OAFE), come to campus to discuss "Food Freedom Day" -the day when the average Canadian has made enough money to pay all their food expenses for the entire year. This lively and interactive dialogue addressed the overlap between agricultual communications and agricultural education, and how we can use events like Food Freedom Day to educate people about issues in agriculture and raise awareness of how it impacts everyday life.
